Chafford Hundreds, Thurrock
Architect: Nicholas Hare Architects
EH Smith are proud to be associated with this project which was the winner of the Civic Trust Centre Vision Award in 2003.
Nicholas Hare Architects successfully united two schools to create a learning resource centre for children and adults, as well as a new centre for the whole community.
The Elegant atrium creates a relaxed entrance for the many visitors, while the carefully chosen Naylor cast stone blocks, supplied by EH Smith, add to the building's gravity and depth, giving it a welcoming, self-assured air. An anti-graffiti protective coating was given to the cast stone blocks to maintain that fresh, crisp aesthetic statement for many years to come.
